Passion’s Price
David McDonald chaired a wonderful session at the last Conflux about the price writers pay for their art, inspired by a series of moving guest posts on his blog. I was honoured to be part of the panel, and even more honoured subsequently to be asked to write a post. You can read my contribution here.
I wonder sometimes if talking about RSI and chronic pain will only make it worse, by lodging it ever more firmly in my mind’s eye, but in this case it definitely helped. I hadn’t realised just how much my problems are feeding back into my work at the moment, an entirely new source of creative fire. If I’m going to be in constant pain, it’s good to know there’s a pay-off. I can live with that.
“Everyone experiences significant pain at some point in their life. Everyone finds ways to deal with it. Once upon a time I’d get together with my writer friends to bitch about money and the market, but now we exchange health tips and coping strategies.” (continue reading here)

Thank you! Are you in Paris? (lucky!) Can you grow on a balcony/stoop/etc? Your photos are gorgeous! Thanks for coming by and I can’t wait to look through your blog some more!
Are you people even reading all of these negative comments? Obviously you've already made your minds up that this is the way YouTube is going to be. YouTube claims to listen to feedback but I don't believe it.This sucks.
Hey! This is my first comment here so I just wanted to give a
quick shout out and tell you I genuinely enjoy reading through your
blog posts. Can you suggest any other blogs/websites/forums that go over the same topics?
Thanks!
Really good quality article! This is one of the most inspiring pieces of work I’ve read a long time. Too many times writers don’t care what they write. It’s obvious that you do. Thank you.
I am wondering which blogging platform you’re running? I’m new to blogging and have been thinking about using the Ning platform. Do you think this is a good platform to start with? I would be really grateful if I could ask you some questions through e-mail so I can learn a bit more prior to getting started.
